"Blue Divide" - A great recording with a fantastic quartet performing a few of my original tunes along with a couple from bassist Carlo De Rosa and a beautiful Herbie Hancock ballad. We're happy to see it debut at #33 on the CMJ Charts - and it's received GREAT international airplay.

I had the good fortune of studying with Davey Schildkraut from age 11 to 14. For those that are unaware of Davey's background, he was one of the true masters of modern Jazz and an unsung hero in the creation of bebop. His most well known work was his alto saxophone playing on the first recording of Solar with the Miles Davis Quintet. He was also the lead alto player with Stan Kenton when Charlie Parker toured with the band as a featured guest. Schildkraut introduced me to Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, and a host of Jazz greats all eager to pass along the language to Davey's student. He HAND WROTE over 550 PAGES of material for our lessons that can only be described as being of biblical proportions. Below is an article that I wrote which was published in Jazz Improv Magazine where I analyzed his educational method as it was developed by a musician that grew as an artist at the very time the language was being created.

Sir Karl Jenkins is currently the most performed living composer in the world. I am honored to be his choice for all works performed in the US that call for saxophone soloist - and I'm happy to say that there are quite a bit! He has masterfully incorporated saxophone and a host of instruments not typically found in an orchestra into his genre-bending works. Here I am performing the World Premiere of Jenkins' Peacemakers at Carnegie Hall.
